Teddy, our labradoodle in the garden
As my long-time subscribers and followers know (I hope), I do not share anything political here. However there are many people who want to do something to help our country (U.S.), but don’t know what to do. People are afraid and anxious.
So I’m inviting you to a special Zoom meeting tomorrow with a speaker from Flip the Vote, a non-profit focused on engaging voters.
My husband and I heard a speaker at a friend’s event and were inspired by the fact that this group demonstrated that their grassroots efforts were not only strategic but they were able to increase voter participation by 7%!

Summer in Oregon
It was a beautiful summer here in Oregon. We’ve had hotter than usual weather and our garden was bountiful. Tonight I’m making oven roasted tomato sauce with basil, fresh herbs, garlic, onions with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. You can see the recipe I’m using here.

Update on camping and our dog, Teddy
Teddy is the brown doodle but the apricot labradoodle, Lilly, passed four years ago.
John and I usually camp about six or seven times each summer in our 19’ Airstream that we named Bambi after its model name. However this summer, our 8 1/2 year old Labradoodle, Teddy, tore his left knee ACL. He had a surgical repair in early June, so we cancelled three camping trips to stay home and help him recover. Then in September, he needed to have a splenectomy due to a potentially life-threatening nodule that could cause a hemorage, and have open liver biopsies to diagnose his chronic hepatitis. We got him through that and cancelled another camping trip.
Then last week he was limping again and his veterinary orthopedic surgeon told us he has torn his other ACL! So in November, Ted will have his last surgery. I tell him that he does surgery well, just like I do. Fingers crossed that we can help him live more years.
The high cost of vet bills is shocking. Thank goodness we have pet insurance, although we don’t get reimbursed for office visits, rehab, prescriptions or wellness exams. Our pet insurance policy just doubled to $2,500 annually. Teddy is a key part of the family and worth it.
